I work with a small, palette of colors. It is in the simplicity of these color choices that I can ensure that the shape of the vessel is not hidden from the viewer. Historically, I feel that I have been influenced greatly by two things in the colors that I use on the surface, the colors of the papers that I used when I was printmaking and the appreciation for "retro" kitchens of the 1950's and 1960's. …or at least the notion I have of the kitchens that existed during this time.
